OCEANDAZE SURF & MUSIC FESTIVAL
Sennen, Cornwall – 4/5 September 2009
As the Cornish summer draws to a close in September there will be one place and one place only to mark the occasion. A brand new, innovative and unique event is scheduled to take place in Sennen, Cornwall over the weekend of 4th/5th September.
OceanDaze Surf and Music Festival is the brainchild of a consortium of Cornish event organisers who have a driven passion for music and surfing.
The gates open at midday on the afternoon of Friday 4th September with live bands taking to the stage from 6pm until late.
Acts taking to one of the three marquees will be a broad range of acoustic and alternative to punk to blues to rock. Combine that with the Sir Vinyl of the Fattest dance tent and it really should have something for everyone.
The main artists tent will include a host of local Cornish talent, some of whom are playing at some of the UK’s biggest events such as The Drum Summit Project (Glastonbury and Notting Hill Carnival). Many of the acts will also be performing at this years Boardmasters festival Steph Newton, San Pablo, Suite Noir, Joe Francis, Auction For The Promise Club and many more.
What many people we hope will get a buzz about is a special one off reunion gig by The Sycamores who haven’t played together since Surfstock exactly one year ago.
The Sir Vinyl of The Fattest DJs host their own tent with the worlds most glamorous club brand Hed Kandi providing some of their finest as well as the Hong Kong Ping Pong Club who had members performing at the recent Glade festival to a sell out crowd.
Cornish legends and complete party fanatics, Love Riot, will be lending us their resident DJ, Ry Spenceley, for the Friday night, believe us when we say, 'this is not to be missed!'
The award winning Blue Flag beach at Sennen Cove which has a global recognition as one of world’s finest and cleanest beaches will play host on the morning of Saturday 5th September to The National Trust hosted ‘West Kernows Greatest Crew' surf competition, which will see some of the counties top surfers take to the seas.
The following crews from West Cornwall will be battling it out for the honour of being the greatest crew; Praa Sands, Porthleven, Penzance, St. Just, Lizard, Helston, Perranuthnoe, Gwithian and Sennen.
FHM’s High Street Honey’s winner 2009 Charlotte Thomson will be presenting the winners award.
Following the morning awards ceremony revellers can head back to festival and campsite, just a five minute stroll from the beach and get into party mode. Live music will start from midday and go on after midnight.
The event site will have designated camping, parking, toilets, food and drink stalls, first aid facilities, security, stewarding and a variety of entertainment throughout the weekend.
Cornish based international disaster relief charity Shelterbox are the chosen charity for the event and will have a presence at the festival.

If you are concerned about the weather, fear not. The weather for Friday and Saturday is supposed to be very good with plenty of sun!
We've had a few enquiries about tickets, here are the main examples with our answers;
Q. I still haven't received my ticket?
A. On payment you would have been sent a confirmation email which is an e-ticket. You need to print this off and bring it with you along with photo I.D (Passport / Driving license).

Q. Can children / pets come to the event?
A. Unfortunately no. In agreement with our license this is strictly an over 18s event.
Q. What time does the event start?
A. The campsite opens at midday on Friday. So feel free to come along, pitch up your tent, have a BBQ etc. The arena opens at 4.45pm and the music is due to start at 5pm
Q. Is there camping and parking?
A. Yes and Yes
Q. Are there day tickets for the Saturday?
A. Unfortunately no, only weekend passes for both days.
Q. Will tickets be available on the gate?
A. Unfortunately no, you must purchase your ticket on line, print out your confirmation and take this with photo ID to prove you are the person on the confirmation information to the ticket booth at the gate there you will gain your Oceandaze bands and access to the event site.
Q. Can we bring alcohol to the event?
A. Yes and No. In the campsite you can bring your own alcohol however you will not be able to bring it into the arena area.

DIRECTIONS
Head to Sennen and is it literally the first turning on the left, approx. 200 - 300 yards before the turn off to Sennen Cove. There will be stewards there directing you to the campsite.
SURF FORECAST FOR THE WEEKEND
Not only is it good weather but the swell for the surf competition is gonna be mackin! 7.5ft swell, 10 second periods, Westerly direction with light North West winds, pretty good swell which should prove to be a good show ground for an intensely competitive competition.
INFLATABLES
In case you thought the band and DJ line up wasn't good enough we have also put together an inflatable fun area, where you will be able to ride the surf simulator, play BIG table football, wrestle in sumo suits and do many other fun silly things. There will be a small charge for there use, but believe me it will be worth it.
CASH MACHINES IN SENNEN
We realise that some of you might forget to get cash out for the weekend when driving through Penzance as your excitement and concentration will no doubt be on the weekend ahead, so just so you know your options for getting cash in Sennen and Sennen Cove are limited.
Sennen Post Office have an in-house cash machine but there is a small charge for withdrawals, you may be able to get cash back at the Costcutter but we haven't been able to confirm this. For the nearest free ATM, it's a trip to St Just I'm afraid.
BUSES TO SENNEN COVE
We have also arranged for First and Last Coaches to do turn around trips to Sennen Cove for the morning of Saturday 5th September for the 'West Kernows Greatest Crew' surf competition, you will have to pay the driver a small fee but it will save your legs for all the dancing later on. Times will be shown on the day.
REMAINING TICKETS
There are still tickets remaining which we are expecting to sell come Friday. If you know of any friends interested then send them to http://www.oceandaze.eventbrite.com
Tickets are non transferable and non refundable and will not be available on the gate, you must purchase your ticket on line, print out your confirmation and take this with photo ID to prove you are the person on the confirmation information to the ticket booth at the gate there you will gain your Oceandaze band and access to the event site.
